Story
Terminator: Salvation is a prequel to the events of the major motion picture of the same name. It is two years after Judgment Day–the date that the Terminator mythology assigns to the nuclear event that the machines will rain down on planet Earth–and what’s left of humanity is caught in a life and death struggle against that same machine intelligence that sprung to life from the former defense super computer known as Skynet. Yet things are not quite what the the earlier chapters in the Terminator saga had predicted for these days. Although over the last two years human survivors of the catastrophe have prepared and organized themselves for the ongoing battle with the machines, John Connor, the character that the player assumes, has yet to emerge as the legendary hero he was foretold to be, and time is running out. In its early nuclear strikes against humanity, Skynet damaged part of itself. It has spent the last two years rebuilding its strength as well in order to complete its mission of the extermination of the human race. Now is the time to strike back at the machines. Now is the time for you and John Connor to take command.

Gameplay and Co-op Support
Action in Terminator: Salvation is from a third-person perspective and relies heavily on the use of cover. Correspondingly players will be able to lock on to cover, dive or slide from one cover point to the next and fire weapons without exposing themselves to return fire, but this doesn’t mean that combat is easy. Cover is fully destructible in the game, meaning that your mechanical enemies will attempt to take that advantage away from you if they recognize that you are dug in. They will also make every attempt to flank your position. These two points are important because Terminator: Salvation forces you to take care of yourself in its single player campaign by not featuring a health regeneration system between checkpoints (health is fully restored at the end of survived levels). But health can be regenerated during combat via an AI or human teammate anytime when playing in the game’s local co-op mode. The ability to team up in co-op mode is also a major aspect of gameplay in that it allows players to turn the tables on terminator units by flanking them and attacking their less heavily armored sides rather than head on. Both single player and co-op modes also feature access to vehicles which can be battled from as well.

Once the unstoppable and just wielder of divine retribution, War is now reduced in stature and cast out amongst the ruined lands of the Earth that he himself devastated. All that remains is the search for the truth behind his betrayal and the survival of its consequences.

The Story
Deceived by the forces of evil into prematurely bringing about the end of the world, War – the first Horseman of the Apocalypse – stands accused of breaking the sacred law by inciting a war between heaven and hell. Dishonored and stripped of his powers, War must return to Earth to search for the truth and punish those responsible. But there is no clear definition of good and evil in this tale. Hunted by a vengeful group of angels, War must take on the forces of Hell, forge uneasy alliances with the very demons he hunts, and journey across the ravaged remains of the Earth on his quest for vindication. But the answers he seeks will reveal a deep conspiracy in which War will find, and have to resign himself to the reality that although once the hand of God, he is just a pawn in the eternal battle between heaven and hell.

Gameplay
A mix of exploration and fast-paced action gameplay, Darksiders is based on nonlinear play situations. That means that as War slowly regains his previous powers of destruction and carnage in order to continue his search for the origins and reasons for his betrayal, players will be able to backtrack to areas and scenarios that they may have left unexplored upon first discovery. Almost all areas of the game can be explored and some of the things players will find as they do so are treasure chests, health chests, and bonus life points, etc. The ability to go back and explore areas is important, especially as the game progresses and War finds himself up against enemies whose defeat require special skills and/or weaponry.

As for combat gameplay, Darksiders features a variety of weapons–including blades and firearms–that can be used in combo moves or in single strikes. Some of these can be charged up for quick, but devastating attacks on enemies and all can be arranged on your controller’s D-pad for easy and preferred access. Additional gameplay elements include the ability/necessity to fight from the back of your mount, Ruin, and the collection of the souls in the form of glowing orbs that fall to the ground as enemies are dispatched. The latter can be used to level up War with new items and abilities.

Varied Characters and Environments
Although players take on the imposing role or War, Darksiders also contains a wide variety of equally intriguing and sometimes frightening characters. These include: an assortment of vengeful angels; demons, such as “the Jailer” whose body is made up of the remains of countless cadavers; a bestiary of wicked and vile creatures created to bolster the armies of hell on Earth; and Ruin, the trusty steed of War. Gameplay environments players will experience are equally varied, and include areas both underground and on the surface, that call to mind both familiar, if ruined modern urban environments, as well as ones seemingly pulled from the nightmarish scenes of the biblical apocalypse.

Better Pitching Through Analytics
As in the previous release in the MLB 2K series, pitching in MLB 2K10 requires a combination of analysis of scouting reports and hurling technique on the mound. Scouting reports are based on 2K Games’ exclusive “Inside Edge” data service, which provides up-to-date information on AI representations of real batters across a wide range of data points. With this players can make an educated guess as to their best chances using particular pitches against a particular batter based on everything from the current count, whether it is a night or day game, to how far into the season it is. Pitching technique is centered around a gesture pitching mechanism, where in players deliver pitches through specific controller inputs using face buttons and/or the analog stick. With regards to this, the difference this time around is that in addition to these enacting inputs, MLB 2K10 incorporates a push button pitch selection system. Players must still input the correct series of gestures for the pitch they intend, which are more difficult for more complex pitches, but this new push button step also provides the game with precise information as to what pitch you intend to throw. With is extra information, which the game uses as a baseline for compiling analytics, players can see where their gestures for particular pitches are off, and correct them as need be.

An Improved Hitting Experience with “Batter’s Eye”
Players’ experience at the plate has also been improved in MLB 2K10 through a combination of data and new features. Just as with pitchers, batters have access to 2K Sports’ “Insider Edge” data to help them make better decisions in specific game situations based on a variety of stats related to themselves if playing as a representative of a real MLB player, or the pitcher they face. But the new feature that completely changes the batters experience in “Batter’s Eye.” With this, highly skilled batters can get occasional, spilt second views of what the pitch is going to be. Used in conjunction with new batting functionality like defensive and contact swings, batters can potentially fend off pitches until the count is in their favor, and/or they are ready to make an educated guess at what the pitch is going to be and swing accordingly. As with the pitching analytics available in defensive positions, offensive players have access to a batting analyzer at the push of a button to figure out what they are doing wrong and right at the plate.

Fielding and Baserunning
Of course baseball isn’t just about initial conflict between pitcher and hitter, so MLB 2K10 gives you all you need to finish the play from any place on the field. Fielding and baserunning in MLB 2K10 features easy controls and tons of great animations just as in earlier releases, but in this most recent version players can also now cue up the actions of their players while on defense, or from the basepads with simple controller inputs. In the case of fielders, once the defensive player is selected, simply press the face button for the appropriate base or cutoff man you want. Once your man makes the stop, he will throw to your chosen spot automatically. This is a big help, especially when trying to turn a quick double play, or in the case of a ball that makes it all the way to the wall. Cueing up the actions of base runners is just as easy. For example, in the event of a full count where you want to send your runners regardless of the pitch, or during a steal attempt, simply select your base runner(s) and use your game controller’s trigger to set events in motion. If you change your mind you can just as easily send them scrambling back with a the same trigger.

Story
Set a few years after the events of the original Army of Two game, Army of Two: The 40th Day features the continuing adventures of millitary contractors Tyson Rios and Elliot Salem. With the help of Alice Murray, their mission coordinator, they now run their own paramilitary business, known as TransWorld Operations (TWO). Working what seems to be a routine mission in Shanghai they find themselves surrounded by a force of competing private military contractors intent on running amok in the city. Will Rios and Salem survive? Will they be able to make a few bucks off a bad situation? All they have is each other to rely on.

Gameplay
As with the original Army of Two, and as the name of the series implies, gameplay in Army of Two: The 40th Day revolves around co-op combat tactics necessary to survive specific and general combat situations. Players can team up with an AI companion in single player mode or a human friend in two-player co-op. Co-op tactics are made aware to the player in what is known as the co-op playbook. Unlike the original game, which in some instances limited the use of some tactics to certain situations, in The 40th Day, players have access to all tactics. Implementing these against opponents revolves around the game’s “Aggro” system, tallied in the heads-up-display (HUD) and which measures the amount of attention a team member draws from opponents for certain tactics, leaving the other team member in various states of freedom to launch coordinated attacks as chosen. In addition to this change, players are also faced with moral dilemmas in the game, including choices presented to one of the players on a team that the other must bear the consequences of, as well as the decision as to deal with and/or defend civilian non-player characters (NPCs), who can be killed in the game.

Multiplayer Modes
In addition to its single player campaign, Army of Two: The 40th Day offers a robust, region-free, multiplayer experience that provides an array of unique features for up to 12 players at a time. This experience consists of four modes, including, three brand-new modes that provide a variety of objectives for partners to battle over. The four modes are:

• Co-op Deathmatch – An intense battle of survival between up to six two-player partnerships. Only by mastering teamwork and partnership skills will players earn the most points and come out on top.
• Control – Sets players partnerships as TWO or FDI rival faction members as they aim to capture strategic locations in the city. Work with your partner and faction to control the most points within the time limit.
• Warzone – Is an all-out objective-based battle between TWO and FDI forces. Complete the most Destruction, Assassination, VIP, and Infiltration missions with your partner and faction to crush the opposition and win.
• Extraction – Pits a team of four players against a series of unique enemy waves as they move from point to point in the ruined city. Players must strategize as a unified team to combat the different forces of the 40th Day Initiative while trying to get out alive. Extraction is a bonus mode that will be available for free one month after Army of Two: The 40th Day is released, or at launch for players who pre-ordered.
